The Department of Civil Engineering, Vidya Academy of Science and Technology Technical Campus, organized a three-day Industrial Visit to Mattupetty Dam, Munnar, for the S3 Civil Engineering students on 13 September 2026 (Sunday). A total of 48 students participated in the industrial visit. The programme was organized with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to dam engineering,  hydraulic structures, water resource management, and the operation and maintenance of major water infrastructure. As part of the visit, an informative technical session was conducted by Nikhil, Sub Engineer, who led the students through the dam and explained its various components, functioning, operation, maintenance, and important engineering aspects. The session provided the students with valuable practical insights into dam structures, reservoir management, spillways, water flow, and structural safety. The visit enabled the students to relate their classroom learning to real-world civil engineering applications. The three-day industrial visit proved to be an enriching and educational experience, enhancing the students technical knowledge and providing them with a better understanding of large-scale hydraulic structures.
