On 26th September 2024, as part of UDYAMA 1.0, an initiative by the Department of Higher Education and the Directorate of Technical Education, a technical session on Sustainable Sanitation Solutions was conducted at AKM Polytechnic College, Kannanalloor. The session, delivered by Arun Lohidakshan, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Vidya Academy of Science and Technology TC Kilimanoor, focused on engaging first-year students from various branches on sustainability in engineering practices.

Key areas discussed included the global need for eco-friendly sanitation systems, innovative technologies like smart toilets and water-saving systems, and waste-to-energy solutions. Arun Lohidakshan also highlighted the role of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cells (IEDC) in driving sustainable innovations and entrepreneurship on campus.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students discussed topics like waste management, renewable energy, and water conservation. The event successfully raised awareness of sustainable solutions and encouraged students to engage in IEDC-led projects aimed at making a positive environmental impact.
