The Library Orientation Programme for newly joined faculty members of VAST-TC was held on Friday, 19 September 2025, from 1.15 PM to 2.00 PM at the ME Seminar Hall. The programme was designed to introduce the new faculty to the collections, facilities, and services of the Central Library, with a special emphasis on encouraging increased usage of resources by borrowing books and accessing digital content.

The session was formally inaugurated by Dr.T.Mathavaraj Ravi kumar, Principal, VAST-TC, who highlighted the importance of academic libraries in supporting both teaching and research. Brig.Sri.K.S.Shaji, Director, VAST-TC, extended felicitations and underscored the role of faculty in motivating students to cultivate reading and research habits.

The orientation class was conducted by Sri.N.Vijayakumar, Librarian, VAST-TC, delivered a detailed presentation using PowerPoint to demonstrate the various services and digital resources available. A total of 34 participants, including 26 newly joined faculty members and several senior faculties, actively attended the session.

The smooth conduct of the programme was made possible with the support of all Heads of Departments, especially Dr.Avinash, HOD of Mechanical Engineering, and his colleagues, who provided valuable assistance during the session.

The event also featured a feedback session, in which Ms.Anjana N, Assistant Professor, ECE Department, and Mr.Abhijith Arun, ME Department, shared their reflections on the programme and appreciated the efforts of the library team.

The orientation was scheduled carefully so as not to interfere with the academic timetable. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms.Reshna R., Assistant Librarian, who acknowledged the contributions of all participants, dignitaries, and supporting staff.

The session proved to be highly informative and interactive, equipping the faculty members with the knowledge to fully utilise the Central Library’s extensive academic resources.
