The Eco Club of the Department of Civil Engineering, Vidya Academy of Science and Technology Technical Campus (VAST TC), Kilimanoor, conducted “EcoGen – Think Green. Act Green. Build a Better Tomorrow”, an environmental awareness activity at the CE Seminar Hall. The programme, held on 5 September 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, focused on promoting environmental consciousness and encouraging students to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives. Students and faculty members participated in the session, which combined awareness activities with an interactive learning component. The programme began with an environmental awareness session highlighting the importance of individual responsibility in protecting the environment. The session emphasized the role of students in maintaining a clean and sustainable campus and demonstrated how simple changes in everyday habits can contribute to environmental protection.

A key component of the programme was the Plastic-Free Campaign, which focused on the environmental impact of single-use plastics. Participants were introduced to the need for reducing plastic consumption and encouraged to adopt sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives as part of their daily practices. The programme concluded with a technology-enabled environmental quiz conducted through an online interactive platform. The quiz covered topics including environmental issues, sustainability, waste management and conservation. The activity provided an engaging platform for participants to assess their knowledge while reinforcing key environmental concepts.

EcoGen highlighted the message “Small Steps Today, Sustainable Tomorrow!”, emphasizing that environmental protection requires collective participation and responsible choices at the individual level. Through activities such as EcoGen, the Eco Club of the Department of Civil Engineering continues to create awareness among students and promote sustainable practices within the campus community.
