The students of S3 Mechanical Engineering from Vidya Academy of Science and Technology Technical Campus (VASTTC), Kilimanoor, undertook an industrial visit to the Mattupetty Dam Hydropower Project near Munnar.
The visit was organized as part of their curriculum to provide practical exposure to power generation systems. Students had the opportunity to observe the working of turbines, alternators, and control mechanisms involved in hydroelectric power generation. The technical team at the site explained various aspects such as the structure of the gravity dam, water management for irrigation, and the role of renewable energy in sustainable development.
The visit proved highly beneficial, offering students a deeper understanding of how theoretical concepts in mechanical engineering are applied in real-world operations. It also enhanced their awareness of renewable energy and resource management.
Faculty members accompanying the students expressed gratitude to the Kerala State Electricity Board and the project staff for their support and detailed guidance during the session.
