As part of the Student Induction Programme (SIP) 2026, the Department of Civil Engineering, Vidya Academy of Science & Technology Technical Campus, Kilimanoor, organized a series of Alumni Interaction Programmes aimed at familiarising newly inducted students with professional opportunities, entrepreneurship and the transition from academic life to the industry. The interaction programmes provided students with an opportunity to meet successful alumni of the department and gain first-hand insights into their professional journeys. The first session was held on 11 August 2026 at the Civil Seminar Hall, featuring Visakh U, an alumnus of the B.Tech Civil Engineering 2015–19 batch and Founder of Inspacious Builders & Designers, Kallambalam. During the session, he shared his experiences as a civil engineering graduate and entrepreneur, highlighting the importance of technical competence,  practical exposure, communication skills, confidence and continuous learning. His entrepreneurial journey served as an inspiration to the newly joined students. The second interaction was conducted on 13 August 2026, featuring Akshay Vijay, alumnus of the B.Tech Civil Engineering 2015–19 batch and Founder of Seamless Architects and Developers, Kollam. He interacted with the students and shared valuable insights into entrepreneurship, professional practice and the opportunities available to Civil Engineering graduates. His experiences offered students a practical perspective on building a career and developing an entrepreneurial mindset. Both sessions were highly interactive, with students actively engaging with the alumni and raising questions related to career development, entrepreneurship, industry expectations and professional growth. The programmes also strengthened the bond between the department and its alumni community. The Alumni Interaction Programmes formed a meaningful component of the Student Induction Programme 2026, motivating freshers to look beyond academics and develop the technical, interpersonal and professional skills required to become successful engineers and future entrepreneurs. The sessions concluded with an emphasis on the message “Learn. Inspire. Connect.”, encouraging students to make the most of their academic journey and remain connected with the professional community.
