3 IN 1 CIVIL SAGA – A FULL DAY TECHNICAL WORKSHOP SERIES

The Department of Civil Engineering, Vidya Academy of Science & Technology Technical Campus, Kilimanoor, successfully conducted a full-day technical workshop series titled “3 in 1 Civil Saga” on Saturday, 28/02/2026 at VASTTC, Kilimanoor. The programme comprised three technical sessions covering core civil engineering domains:

  1. Geometric 360° – Workshop on Surveying

    Time: 9:30 A.M – 11:30 A.M

    Coordinator: Ms. Anjali Saji (AP, CE)

    Conducted by: Mr. Arish Krishna & Mr. Akhil M Ramesh, S4 CE, VASTTC

    This session provided hands-on exposure to surveying principles, instruments, levelling procedures, and field measurement techniques.

  2. SketchUp Studio – Workshop on SketchUp

    Time: 11:45 A.M – 1:00 P.M

    Coordinator: Ms. Pooja M Vijay (AP, CE)

    Resource Person: Ms. Twinkle S, Operational Head, Arcite School of Technical Education

    The session focused on 3D modelling, basic architectural visualization, and practical workflow in SketchUp for civil engineering applications.

  3. Build & Bond in BIM – Workshop on BIM

    Time: 2:00 P.M – 4:00 P.M

    Coordinator: Ms. Nayana Gopan (AP, CE)

    Resource Person: Ms. Sreelekshmi M V, Architect, CADD Centre, Attingal

    Participants were introduced to Building Information Modelling concepts, coordination workflows, and the importance of BIM in modern construction practices.

    Participation Details

    Total registered participants: 40 students

    From MGM Polytechnic College: 20 students

    From Younus Engineering College: 5 students

    Remaining participants were from VASTTC and other institutions. All participants actively attended all three sessions and were awarded certificates upon successful completion. The workshop series was highly interactive and beneficial, providing students with practical exposure to Surveying, 3D Modelling using SketchUp, and BIM workflows in a single day. The sessions enhanced the technical skills, industry awareness, and software proficiency of the participants. The event received excellent feedback from students and resource persons, marking it as a grand success.
