NSS Unit 324 of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology Technical Campus (VAST TC) organised a community outreach and social service visit to Gandhi Bhavan International Trust on 24 August 2026. The initiative was organised to provide support to the residents of the institution and to engage NSS volunteers in community-oriented activities.

As part of the programme, the NSS team donated new and used clothes and a financial contribution of ₹20,050 to Gandhi Bhavan International Trust. The contribution was supported by the Principal, Academic Director, Director, faculty members, staff and NSS volunteers of VAST TC.

The visiting team comprised Brig. K. S. Shaji, Director, VAST TC; Dr. Jayarenjini N, HoD, ECE; Trustee Coordinator Ms. Anitha Vijayan; Mr. Sajeer A, NSS Programme Officer; and 30 NSS volunteers.

During the visit, Brig. K. S. Shaji, Ms. Anitha Vijayan, and Dr. Jayarenjini N addressed the volunteers and spoke about the significance of compassion, empathy and social responsibility. The NSS volunteers also interacted with the residents of Gandhi Bhavan, providing an opportunity for meaningful engagement and community interaction.

The programme received active support from the VAST TC community. The College Principal, Dr. Ansamma John, contributed clothes and financial assistance and granted permission for the programme. Dr. Shalij P R, Academic Director, extended financial support and guidance. Brig. K. S. Shaji, Ms. Anitha Vijayan, and Dr. Jayarenjini N also contributed clothes and financial assistance.

Faculty members and staff of VAST TC contributed clothes and funds towards the initiative. Mr. Nikhil V S assisted in arranging transportation for the visiting team. Assistant NSS Programme Officer Ms. Sreelakshmi M and faculty members of the Department of Applied Science supported the volunteers in sorting and packing the donated clothes.

The visit allowed NSS volunteers to participate in community service while developing values of empathy, teamwork, compassion, and social responsibility. The programme concluded with the volunteers reflecting on the importance of extending care, support and companionship to members of the community.
