Vidya Academy of Science and Technology Technical Campus (VAST TC), Kilimanoor, celebrated its annual Onam festival, PRAKAMBANAM 2026, on 21 August 2026 with vibrant cultural programmes and enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and staff.

The celebrations began at 9:30 a.m. at the college lobby with a prayer, followed by the welcome address by Ms. Ganga M. Pillai, S7 CSE. Dr. Ansamma John, Principal, VAST TC, inaugurated the celebrations and highlighted the cultural significance of Onam and the values of unity, harmony, and togetherness associated with the festival.

As part of the inaugural function, Brig. K. S. Shaji, Director, VAST TC; Dr. Shalij, Academic Director, VAST TC; Dr. C. Brijilal Ruban, HoD, CSE; Dr. Jayarenjini N, HoD, ECE; Dr. K. Sargunan, HoD, CE; and Mr. Chandu E. S, HoD, ME, were felicitated. Mr. Navaneeth, S7 CE and Art Secretary, Senate, proposed the vote of thanks.

The celebrations featured a range of traditional and cultural activities. A colourful Pookkalam adorned the college lobby, while students presented a graceful Thiruvathira performance. Malayali Manga and Kerala Sreeman, a traditional Kerala-themed fashion event, provided students with a platform to showcase their confidence, creativity, and appreciation of Kerala's cultural heritage.

The celebrations also included a traditional Onasadhya, bringing students, teaching and non-teaching staff together to enjoy the flavours of Kerala. Fun games, music, dance, and other cultural activities added to the festive atmosphere and encouraged active participation across the campus.

Prakambanam 2026 provided students with opportunities to showcase their talents, develop teamwork and leadership skills, and engage meaningfully with the cultural traditions of Kerala. The collective participation of the college community contributed to strengthening unity, social interaction, inclusiveness, and a positive campus environment.

The successful conduct of the celebrations reflected the coordinated efforts of the organizers, students, faculty members, staff, and volunteers. Prakambanam 2026 thus served as a vibrant platform for celebrating Kerala's cultural heritage while fostering togetherness and community spirit at VAST TC.
