The Seven Days Special Camp of the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit No. 324 of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology Technical Campus (VAST TC) was inaugurated at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Thattathumala, on 24 December 2025. The camp will continue until 30 December 2025 with the objective of promoting social responsibility, leadership qualities, and community engagement among student volunteers.
The inauguration ceremony was formally inaugurated by Ms. Deepa Anil, Member, District Panchayat, Kilimanoor Division. Mr. Sajeer A, NSS Programme Officer, VAST TC, delivered the welcome address, while the presidential address was given by Mr. K. G. Biju, PTA President, GHSS Thattathumala. Felicitation addresses were offered by Mr. Aneesh G. L., Member, Thattathumala Ward; Mr. C. Prakash, Member, Panapamkunnu; Ms. Sheeja D. S., Principal, GHSS Thattathumala; Br. Shaji K. S., Director, VAST TC; Ms. Deepa, Ex-Member, Thattathumala; Dr. Arun S., Programme Coordinator, NSS APJKTU; and Ms. Sreelakshmi M., Assistant NSS Programme Officer, VAST TC.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Sahabas S., Volunteer Secretary of NSS. As part of the camp, several socially relevant activities have been planned, including AIDS awareness, cancer awareness, traffic awareness, cybercrime awareness sessions, economic and social surveys, plantation of fruit trees in camp-located homes, anti-drug campaigns, cleaning programmes, and cultural programmes performed by the volunteers. The camp is expected to create a meaningful impact on the local community while providing valuable experiential learning opportunities for the NSS volunteers.
