Vidya Academy of Science & Technology Technical Campus, Kilimanoor organized an Induction Programme for first year students (2021-2024 Batch) from 11/11/2020 to 27/11/2020. The program was planned to engage students through academic and non-academic activities, to improve their skills and self-confidence, and to let them know more about our college. The syllabus for the induction program was framed as per AICTE and KTU norms. The sessions were conducted through online mode, in Google Meet and in Zoom.
Dr. M.C.John Wiselin was the Program Advisor . Mr. Dawn Sivan, Ms. Sreejitha S.G., and Ms. Liji Ramesan Santhi were the overall coordinators. The program started with an Introduction Session, handled by the Batch Advisors. The overall program was charted for 13 days. The main sessions were handled by eminent personalities and our faculties and HoDs.
Ice Breaking session was handled by Dr.Latha Raj, Director of Student's Welfare and Social Projects, Vidya Academy of Science and Technology. Human Values 2 was handled by Mr. Banarji Bhaskaran, motivational speaker / counselling psychologist and a corporate trainer. The session on "How to explore your inner potential" was taken by Mr. Alex Chacko, Asst. Professor, ME Department, VAST Thrissur. Another session on " Secret of Sucess" was handled by Mr. Hareesh K, Assistant Professor, Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, Thrissur. Our Principal Dr. T Mathavaraj Ravikumar handled the session on "Scope of Engineering Education". Ms. Abitha A.S., Assistant Professor, Applied Science handled the session on "Verbal & Non Verbal communication". Fun Maths was handled by Ms. Saritha U.M., Ms. Vigitha Vidyadhar and Ms. Lekshmipriya, from Applied Science Department.
Many more sessions like puzzles and games handled by Ms. Karthika E.T. and Mr. Dheeraj K.M., Theme Talk(by Mr. Dawn Sivan), Creative Arts, Poster and Model making and Dance and Music were also included. A motivational session was handled by Fr. Sabu Thomas, Assistant Professor, Sacred Heart College, Thevara, Kochi.
Talk on "Cyber Crime Awarness" handled by Mr. Sahir S. M., Deputy Superintendent of Police, Special Branch TVPM Rural, Kerala Police and talk on "Drug Abuse" by Mr. P. L. Vijilal, Excise Preventive Officer, Karunagapally Branch, Excise Department was also arranged for students. A session on "Stress Management" was organised via the online platform Zoom, and was handled by Dr. Remya Prabha, Siddha Medical practitioner and Counselor, State TB cell, Trivandrum.
A session of Basics of each Engineering Branches of CSE, CS, ECE, EEE and ME was taken for all batches by the respective HoDs. Also, an introduction to Basic Sciences was given to the students.
It was a great experience to the students and boosted their self-confidence and explained about how they should treat others in society. All the sessions were very interactive and the basic papers helped students to know about other branches.
