The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of VAST TC organized an Orientation Program on 24th June 2025 from 09:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The Convenor of this program is Dr.C.Brijilal Ruban, HoD of CSE, and the Coordinator is Ms.Seenamole J, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CSE, VAST TC.
Total 56 students attended the program. The Orientation Program started at 9:30 AM with a prayer. Ms.Saranya Raj S, Assistant Professor, CSE, invited for a welcome speech. After this, HoD of CSE, Dr.C.Brijilal Ruban, delivered the presidential address. He elaborated on the importance of the CSE department, discussed job opportunities, and highlighted student achievements, Next the inaugural address was delivered by Academic Director Brig.K S Shaji. The Director elaborated on the college, the trust, and the details of Vidya's scholarship. After inaugural address the alumni interaction session was delivered by Ms.Rajelekshmi from the 2019 batch, Krishnanath and Abdul Razak from the 2021 batch sharing their experiences and insights, it must have been a dynamic and informative discussion.
Two distinguished speakers handled Orientation sessions:
The programme started with an introduction to Python and its features. The trainer gave an overview of Python's syntax, data types, control structures, and functions. The participants were then given hands-on exercises to practice writing Python code.
The trainer provided step-by-step guidance and assistance to the participants as they worked through the exercises. These exercises were thoughtfully designed to cover a diverse array of topics, including loops, conditions, and lists in Python programming. This approach ensured that participants gained a comprehensive understanding of these fundamental concepts, allowing them to apply their newfound knowledge in practical scenarios. After completing the exercises, the participants were given a coding challenge to test their understanding of the concepts covered in the training. The trainer gave feedback on the participants' code and provided suggestions for improvement.
Overall, the orientation program received positive feedback from the participants. The hands-on training provided valuable insights into Python programming, enabling participants to grasp fundamental concepts effectively. Many expressed enthusiasm for delving deeper into Python, highlighting their eagerness to explore advanced topics and practical applications. Additionally, participants appreciated the interactive nature of the sessions, which facilitated active learning and encouraged collaborative problem-solving. The program successfully fostered a supportive learning environment, encouraging networking among participants and fostering a sense of camaraderie within the CSE community at VAST TC.
The session was very helpful and informative for the CSE aspirants. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Ms.Sansya vijayan, Assistant Professor of the Department of CSE at 12.15 PM.
