The Scholarship Function 2024 was a vibrant and memorable event held on the 10th of July, 2024, at the Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, Technical Campus (VASTTC). The function took place in the college lobby and commenced precisely at 10 AM. The event was graced by the presence of trustees, scholarship students, their parents, and distinguished guests.
The program began with a warm and engaging welcome speech by Principal Dr. T. Mathavaraj Ravikumar, setting a positive tone for the event. The Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) M. Abdul Rahiman, Director, LBS Centre for Science and Technology and former Pro Vice-Chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Sri. Prakash Nadesan, Former Executive Member of VICT, delivered the presidential address. He shed light on the significance of scholarships and the origins of the trust, inspiring all attendees.Dr. M. Abdul Rahiman delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the importance of skills in engineering education. His speech was enriched with captivating stories and well-received by students and parents. Dr. Abdul Rahiman also reminisced about his strong relationship with Vidya from his tenure at the university.
Mr. Manoj T. R., President of Kilimanoor Panchayath, praised the institution as the sole college in the panchayath, adding pride to the community. Brig K. S. Shaji (Retd), Director of VASTTC, congratulated the students on their academic performance and placements, motivating them with his encouraging words. Sri. G. Satheesan, Scholarship Committee Convenor, emphasized the importance of scholarships for the student community, highlighting their impact.
A total of 37 students were awarded scholarships during the event. Additionally, six students received achievement awards from the chief guest for their excellence in academics and extracurricular activities, creating a powerful and enthusiastic atmosphere among the audience. The presence of Shri Madhavan Rajeev, Scholarship Committee Member, VICT, Shri P. Raveendran, Scholarship Committee Member VICT, and Shri Prem Raj Gopalan VICT Trust Member, added to the event's grace and significance.. Their support and encouragement were deeply appreciated by all.
The event saw the participation of 200 individuals, including scholarship students, their parents, and staff members. The program concluded at 12 PM, followed by tea and refreshments arranged in the lobby. The vibrant function, marked by the presence of trustees, parents, and students, garnered widespread publicity in newspapers and social media, including the chief guest's social media page.
VIDYA AICTE Scholarships were awarded to 5 students, and student achievement awards were given by Dr. M. Abdul Rahiman. A token of memento was handed over to Dr. M. Abdul Rahiman by the president of the function, Mr. Prakash Nadesan. The dignitaries distributed scholarships to 36 students from the 2023 batch, wishing them all success in their lives.
Mr. Arun K.L, HoD I/C Department of Mechanical Engineering was the Convenor of Scholarship Function. Ms. Sreejitha S.G, Assistant Professor Dept of Electronics and Communication and Mr. Lenin Babu, Assistant Professor Dept of Civil Engineering, were the Overall coordinators.
Ms. Anitha Vijayan, Trustee Coordinator VICT extended the Vote of Thanks on behalf of VICT and VASTTC, expressing gratitude to all attendees and contributors to the successful event. The function ended with the National Anthem at 12 Noon, leaving everyone with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
