As part of the Government of Kerala's Operation Toofan initiative, the NSS Unit of Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, Technical Campus, Kilimanoor, organized a Sports Equipment Distribution Programme for the students of Thattathumala Government Higher Secondary School on 07 August 2026. The programme aimed to encourage students to actively participate in sports and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle among the younger generation.

The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Shaji K. S, Director, Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, who handed over the sports equipment to Ms. Sheeja S, Principal, Thattathumala Government Higher Secondary School. Addressing the gathering, Ms. Sheeja S. appreciated the NSS Unit's initiative and emphasized that encouraging students to participate in sports is an effective way to keep them away from substance abuse and promote physical and mental well-being.

Dr. Ansamma John, Principal, Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, conveyed her best wishes and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the NSS Unit in organizing meaningful community outreach programmes. She encouraged the volunteers to continue their service activities for the betterment of society.

The programme was coordinated by NSS Programme Officers Mr. Sajeer A (AP, AS) and Ms. Sreelakshmi M(AP, AS), with the active support of Volunteer Leaders Mr. Karthik S and Ms. Suryanandana S. NSS volunteers actively participated in the programme and ensured its successful conduct.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming the NSS Unit's commitment to supporting the Government's anti-drug campaign and promoting sports as a powerful tool for building a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free society.
