The Department of Civil Engineering, Vidya Academy of Science & Technology Technical Campus, Kilimanoor, organised “Smart Build, Smart Career: AI & BIM Placement Orientation” on 24 September 2026 at the Seminar Hall. The session was conducted in association with Bim, Trivandrum, with 34, S7 Civil Engineering students participating. The expert session focused on the growing significance of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the modern construction industry. Students were introduced to BIM as a collaborative digital process integrating architectural, structural and MEP information, along with emerging applications of 4D, 5D and 6D BIM. The resource persons also demonstrated how AI is being integrated with BIM workflows for applications such as clash detection, predictive scheduling, quantity take-offs and design optimisation. Real project examples and industry software demonstrations helped students understand the practical relevance of these technologies.

A major highlight of the programme was the career and placement guidance session, which provided students with insights into industry expectations, in-demand skills, certifications and career pathways in BIM modelling, coordination, project planning, digital construction management and consultancy.

The interactive session concluded with a question-and-answer segment, where students discussed course options, internship opportunities and the practical scope of BIM and AI skills in placements. The programme encouraged students to embrace continuous upskilling and emerging digital technologies to become industry-ready civil engineering professionals.
