Mr. Lenin Babu and Ms. Midhila M, Assistant Professors of the Department of Civil Engineering at Vidya Academy of Science and Technology Technical Campus, achieved academic recognition through the successful publication and presentation of their research paper titled “GIS-Based Assessment of Seismic Vulnerability in Buildings” at the National Conference on ‘Recent Trends and Innovations for the Future (RIF 2026)’ organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education on 17th April 2026. The research work focused on the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for assessing the seismic vulnerability of buildings and identifying earthquake-prone risk zones. The study highlighted the integration of spatial data analysis with structural assessment techniques to support effective disaster preparedness and urban planning. Through their innovative research, Mr. Lenin Babu and Ms. Midhila M proposed a systematic GIS-based methodology for evaluating structural risks and prioritizing mitigation strategies in vulnerable regions. Their contribution reflects the growing research capabilities and academic excellence of the faculty members in the field of civil engineering.
